烧结普通砖可用于建筑维护结构，砌筑柱、拱、烟囱、窑身、沟道及基础等。可与轻骨料混凝土、加气混凝土、岩棉等隔热材料配套使用，砌成两面为砖、中间填以轻质材料的轻体墙。可在砌体中配置适当的钢筋或钢筋网成为配筋砌筑体，代替钢筋混凝土柱、过粱等。
