土器，即常见的砖瓦。地表黏土皆可烧成，烧制温度达到7、800摄氏度，坯体不仅可以定型，而且还能达到一定的强度。土器，因为由黏土烧成，所以土腥味较重。紫砂壶中的“熟砂”（其实应该叫“熟粉”），就是将烧到这个温度的紫砂泥，再根据需要磨成所需大小的颗粒，通过改变泥料的物理结构，满足制作和成品颗粒效果的需要。一些假的紫砂壶（非用紫砂泥制作的“紫砂壶”，有些看起来也具有颗粒感，就是采用的这个方法。
